The traditional brand, which is famed for its use of the south sea pearl, will inject a new range into its 2012 offering. Founder and creative director Alan Linney, his son Justin and their team have created an eclectic anniversary collection inspired by music - from rock and pop to jazz and classical. From skull rings to disco ball pendants, the new range is made from Australian South Sea pearls, rare Argyle pink diamonds and Kalgoorlie gold.

Assistant creative director, Justin Linney, aged 24, designed the 2012 men’s collection and he said the pieces have an exciting and contemporary edge.

“The new collection appeals to a wider market, but still utilises the original formula that has created demand for our designs over the years,” Justin said. “This year we wanted to challenge the team again to create a unique collection using the underlying theme of music to inspire and influence the designs.”

Justin said the new collection is about inviting people to connect with each piece of jewellery in the same way they connect with music.

“We had a lot of fun using music as the backdrop for our inspiration and it was interesting exploring the different genres and how they could be expressed through design,” he said. “I’m particularly excited about our disco ball pendant which is a new way of presenting pearls.”

Linneys has three stores in WA and has recently opened a shop at Westfield Sydney. Prices range from $580 through to $72,500 for an oval shape diamond ring. The majority of pieces are designed and created at Linneys Subiaco and Broome studios.

“This ensures the highest possible quality of products as well as enabling the designer to work closely with the jeweller to interpret the initial concept and turn the design it into a reality,” Justin said.
