MELBOURNE: Denimwear brand Levi's is set to expand its Victorian retail presence.

The American-headquartered company will open its second standalone store in Melbourn's Chadstone Shopping Centre in October.

The opening marks the retail and wholesale brand's ninth Australian store with one store already in Queensland and Victoria, four in New South Wales and two in Western Australia. It also operates three stores in New Zealand with one each in Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.

The move follows the brand's much publicised iSpyLevis campaign which saw it use social networking site Twitter to drive home brand awareness by giving out free jeans to Australian and New Zealand consumers.

The campaign has already launched across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and New Zealand. It moved to Perth last week and has so far resulted in the brand's twitter site attracting more than 1600 followers.
