SYDNEY: Dan Single and George Gorrow have emerged from their self-imposed media exile to comment on Ksubi's January administration.

The two founders expressed that the past 12 months were “very difficult” for the brand and that it had lacked a structured business model and experienced management. They stated that the new ownership structure recently put in place would provide these elements.

“Both Dan and I have never felt more inspired and positive about the brand. We have already experienced a huge change. With the right funding and great management we are experiencing the creative freedom that will allow ksubi to grow,” said Gorrow.

As reported in Ragtrader, ksubi is now controlled by a consortium of fashion industry experts under the name ksubi Pty. Ltd.

This comprises ksubi investor Harry Hodge, ksubi founders Single and Gorrow and shareholders of Bleach.

Hodge has been appointed executive chairman, with Bleach chief executive officer Tim Grainger and Bleach chief financial officer Mark Byers on the board. Further board members will be appointed. Single and Gorrow will continue as creative directors.

Bleach owns streetwear labels Insight and Something Else and its manufacturing and distribution capabilities will now be available to ksubi.

Ksubi’s winter 2010 apparel range is now in store in 22 countries, including General Pants and David Jones nationally. It has a new footwear line coming into David Jones stores and boutiques in March this year as the result of a collaboration with Six London.

Ksubi’s eyewear manufacturing deal with Sunshades will continue, with the next offer in stores in March.
