MELBOURNE: Menswear label Kromosome is preparing to enter the German market following an exclusive distribution deal with Loftwerk52 in Dusseldorf.

The Melbourne-based wholesaler will debut at denim-based trade fair JAM Cologne, from January 30 to February 1. Marketing manager Mathew Garland said the brand's high street positioning in Australia had helped to leverage its entry into the international fashion arena.

"Kromosome's Australian retail distribution was a great success in 2008 and as a part of our 2009 growth plans we have established close relations with respected Dusseldorf based fashion agency, Loftwerk52. We are hopeful to repeat Kromosome's Australian distribution success in Germany during 2009," he said.

The brand's autumn/winter 2009 collection, DNA-4 The Revolution, comprises of t-shirts, shirts, knitwear, denim, jackets and accessories. It will be available in Australian retailers from March and German retailers from August.

Kromosome has 12 stockists in Victoria, 11 in Western Australia, two in South Australia, one in Queensland and three in New South Wales.
