Kookai's New Year's resolution
Funky womenswear retailer Kookai has announced it will expand its store network by up to 13 stores in Australia and New Zealand within the next 12 months.
The news comes one month after the company opened three new stores in Sydney, taking its count to nine stores in Sydney and 21 nationally.
The new stores are located in Macquarie Shopping Centre in North Ryde and Penrith Shopping Centre.
Further retail expansion will kick-off in February, 2006 with a new store in Warringah Mall in Sydney, followed by Marion in South Australia in March and Cairns in April.
Managing director Robert Cromb said an additional six to 10 stores are also scheduled to open in the next 12 to 18 months.
"We feel the time is right...We have been very successful with a smaller number of stores and are looking for the right locations to expand our brand, he said."
"We will be focusing on growth in Queensland and Victoria and potentially New Zealand."
The company is also considering launching a marketing campaign in early 2006 to promote the new stores.
"With the growth of the brand we will be looking at [implementing] a dynamic [marketing] strategy," said Cromb.
"In the past we have not been a brand that has been known to utilise advertising or marketing greatly. We will now utilise marketing or branding activities that reflect the quirky styling of the product."
