SYDNEY: A former designer for Australian label Kirrily Johnston has branched out to launch her own label, called The Eleventh Hour.

Creator Anne Tu worked for Johnston for three years and also spent time in London and Paris designing for international brand Preen. She is a fashion design graduate of The Sydney Institute of Tafe.

“My whole goal has been to design and work under my own label,” she said. “I describe my label as relaxed glamour. Growing up as a Sydney-sider I have a laid back approach to fashion, but it is important to be well dressed and take pride in your appearance.”

The womenswear brand was officially launched in October, however Tu is taking her designs to the public for the first time in a pop up store at the Gaffa Gallery, Sydney. Hosted in conjunction with the Finders Keepers Arcade Project, the designer will show alongside three other emerging brands and artists.

The initial resort 2010/11 offer is themed ‘Modern Romance’ and comprises 31 pieces ranging from $200 to $400. A refined colour palette includes dusty pink, light sand, black and white.

Jersey gowns, cotton layered dresses, sheer tops, structured bottoms and draped skirts are all offered.

The pop up store will be held in the Gaffa Gallery in Clarence Street Sydney, from November 25 to December 24.
