 Balkans bound?

A certain Sydney based department store appears set to establish itself in Bulgaria through a viral campaign featuring the famed "hounds tooth" pattern used on its bags and other branded paraphernalia. Or maybe not. Melbourne tabloid The Herald Sun's online 'Whacky Fashion' showcase currently boasts a catwalk image (posted by the interestingly named Sofia fashion studio Totally Erected) showing a model in a padded plastic ensemble heavily trimmed with said hounds tooth. A comment on the site says it all. "No offence, but it looks like a David Jones plastic bag. A puffy David Jones plastic bag."

Big up for big girls

Natalie Wakeling, the founder of curve-friendly jeans brand Embody has some theories that most of the more "statuesque" members of the female race will find encouraging. With a label that promises to make even the most full figured of the fairer sex feel more enticing than a chocolate nut sundae, Wakeling believes uber confident taller and bigger woman deserve a little respect. So far so obvious, but Wakeling goes a step further. "A lot of bigger women are just happier," she claims, "they're not so worried about a few extra pounds." And who's going to argue with that?

Putting his foot in it

Recession? What recession? It's all poppy cock. Well at least that's the word from inside American R & B singer Kanye West's self-imposed bubble. Kat Walker hears the singer has way too much money for his own good after tapping the employment columns to find what he termed a "shoe cleaner". And the role of said employee? Solely to make sure all West's 450 pairs of shoes are "clean and in order". To help fill in his 40-hour working week, the shoe cleaner must also take photographs of all shoes and place them in storage boxes to ensure the singer has no problem working out which pair goes with which outfit. The only question remaining is whether the job extends to helping the singer determine which foot goes in which.
