NEW ZEALAND: Designer Karen Walker has revealed fresh details of her Topshop coup for New Zealand.
Walker co-runs The Department Store in Auckland, which will open a dedicated Topshop space on its second floor on April 24.
It is only the second Topshop outlet in Australasia, with the first being independent boutique Incu in Sydney which launched in late 2009.
Walker said the store will receive new collections from the UK high street label every week. It will begin with womenswear and include menswear later in the year.
She confirmed that she had plans to expand the Topshop offer to other locations but did not reveal where or the time frame.
Topshop senior buyer and wholesale manager Rachel Proud said the company hand-picks international retailers to house the Topshop product.
“The Department Store was on our radar so we made the approach and we’re thrilled it has come together. The Department Store is a premium destination for us,” she said.
The Department Store launched in October 2009 and is a collaboration between Walker, Stephen Marr and Dan Gosling of Black Box. It stocks a mix of international and local labels including Opening Ceremony, Claude Maus, Stolen Girlfriend's Club, Ksubi and Chronicles of Never among others.
Topshop launched in 1964 and has over 300 stores across the UK and 100 international stores. Every week, more than 300 new styles are delivered to Topshop stores internationally.
