MELBOURNE: India has confirmed it will be a major participant in the new Australian International Sourcing Fair (AISF), to be held next month.

Clothing, textile, furnishing and gift manufacturers from India will show in a 1500 square metre pavilion, with their involvement organised by the India Trade Promotion Organisation.

Event organiser, Australian Exhibitions and Conferences managing director Marie Kinsella said she was excited about India’s participation in the inaugural fair.

“As one of the largest global fabric and textiles manufacturers, the Indian Pavilion at AISF promises to be an incredibly colourful and dynamic display,” she said.

The news comes as details of trade fair Brand India have been released, pointing to a growing interest from Indian clothing and textiles manufacturers keen to do business with Australia.

AISF is run by the company behind Fashion Exposed. It will take place at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre from November 17 to 19.

The aim is link Australian business with high-volume manufacturers and wholesalers from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Indonesia and Thailand.  Over 200 companies are scheduled to show.

It will be held alongside the China Clothing and Textiles Expo.
