MELBOURNE: The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) has opened an exhibition celebrating the use of floral motifs and themes in fashion. Titled Everlasting the show will feature floral designs across a range of media including embroidery, lace, appliqué, beading, weaving, printing, dyeing and garment construction. It runs from August 26 2005 to April 2 2006 at the NGV's Myer Fashion and Textiles Gallery.

SYDNEY: A host of Indonesian garment and footwear manufacturers will shortly descend on Sydney as part of the biggest Indonesian Trade show held in the city in more than 10 years. Exhibitors at the September 9 to 11 event include skirt, beachwear, bridal fashion, footwear and bags and accessories manufacturers, all of whom are hoping to attract the interest of visiting agents, importers and garment buyers. :Feathers' Tassie moves
MELBOURNE: Victorian Fashion retailer Feathers has unveiled enhancements to its retail presence in Tasmania, with the opening of an additional store in Launceston, and the relocation of the Hobart city store to Sandy Bay Hobart. Feathers Launceston opened on August 3 at 47a Brisbane St Launceston and Feathers Sandy Bay will open in Septebmer at 143A Sandy Bay Road, Sandy Bay.

:Joveeba flying high
PERTH: West Australian brand Joveeba and Sydney-based agency Homfrays have joined forces to fly the Australian flag at Los Angeles Fashion Week in October. It is the latest in a string of successes for the woman behind the brand, designer Alison Cotton, who after showing at Mercedes Australian Fashion Week earlier this year secured more than 30 stockists and attracted new business across Asia.

MELBOURNE: Wholesaler Flamin' Galah - which specialises in souvenir tee-shirts celebrating Aussie culture - has set up a website at flamingalah.com. The site features a comprehensive list of stockists, full product catalogue and regular updates on additions to the company's range of tees, singlets and chesties.

:Lee's awakening
SYDNEY: South African-born, Sydney-based designer Vivienne Lee has unveiled plans to launch her first collection of women's sleepwear. Lee, whose signature colour range incorporates a mix of lilac and purple, has already launched her brand online but plans to introduce her range to a wider audience during a special showing on August 30. Plans are also afoot to expand her offering to include a range of accessories at a later date.

:Adidas to buy Reebok
GERMANY: Global sportswear company Adidas-Salomon is set to purchase US rival sports brand Reebok in a deal worth more than $US3 billion ($3.9 billion). The acquisition will double Adidas-Salomon's share of the US athletic shoe market to 20 per cent, close to that of market leader Nike. Reebok will continue to be run by chairman and CEO Paul Fireman.
