SYDNEY: European luxury brands are on high alert following yet another ambitious retail raid in Sydney.

Thieves raided the Hugo Boss flagship site in Paddington at around 3.40am yesterday morning, according to reports from NSW police. It is understood the two men wore dark clothing and smashed the Oxford Street store's front glass door using a sledgehammer, or similar object.

While police could not estimate the value of goods stolen, thieves made off with both apparel and accessories. This was the second time the store had been raided in four months, with reports some employees had arrived at 4.30am to clean the mess and left as late as 7pm.

As reported on Ragtrader Online, the Louis Vuitton flagship store in Sydney was also raided earlier this month with at least one of the thieves using a sledgehammer to smash the shopfront.

Police said it was too early to comment on whether the two thefts were related.
