NATIONAL: It's the kind of prestige fashion house many designers aspire to work for, but its Aboriginal artist Gloria Petyarre who's scooped the latest commission for Paris-based Hermes.
A leaf design based on her painting 'Bush Medicine Leaf Dreaming' was snapped up by the prestigious brand for its spring/summer 2009 scarf collection. The scarf featured swirling burnt orange, gold and yellow leaves against a white background and was priced at A$530.
Dubbed 'Le Reve de Gloria', it would be part of a broader collection based around the theme Invitation to Travel.
According to national publication Aboriginal News, Petyarre's work was first noticed by Hermes artistic director Pierre Alexis Dumas during a Paris exhibition in 2006.
