QUEENSLAND: Westfield, in conjunction with Queensland Investment Corporation, has opened a $180 million shopping centre at Helensvale on the Gold Coast. The project was completed several months ahead of schedule and is the second greenfield development for Westfield in Queensland in recent years. The new development takes Westfield's Queensland malls to seven, including five centres in Brisbane. Westfield is also investing a further $180 million in the redevelopment of Westfield Chermside due for completion in late 2006, and has plans to begin the stage two redevelopment of Westfield North Lakes over the next 12 to 18 months.

:Off to Italy
BRISBANE: Moreton Institute of TAFE fashion student Chris Connors has been awarded a scholarship for his 'Roman Holiday' inspired collection at the fashion and lifestyle event Modaitalia, which was staged recently in Brisbane. Connors will now travel to Rome to complete two weeks of work experience in the Pianura Studio fashion house under the guidance of head designer, Salvatore Pianura. He will then travel to Florence to complete an intensive two-week program at the prestigious Polimoda Institute of Fashion.

:In The Muse
SYDNEY: TAFE NSW, Sydney Institute, are set to stage an exhibition that showcases the latest footwear and millinery fashions from some of Sydney's most promising young designers. Dubbed Hats and Shoes at the Muse, the exhibition will run from November 7 to 11 in The Muse, Ultimo College, Mary Ann Street, Ultimo. The exhibition will be open daily from 10am until 4pm and entry is free.

:Aussie gets gold
SYDNEY: Men's underwear, swimwear and sleepware brand aussieBum has been awarded the NSW/ACT importer/exporter of the year at the 2005 Australia Post Small Business Awards. Dragged from humble beginnings by directors Sean Ashby and Guyon Holland in 2001, the company is now a multi-million dollar global enterprise, employing more than 30 people.

SYDNEY: Women's lingerie company Pleasure State has launched its inaugural diffusion collection. The range, which sits beneath the company's couture collection as an everyday youthful lingerie line, features a variety of stylish t-shirt bras, lace bras, briefs and g-strings. Prices range from $59 to $79.
