SYDNEY: Luxury fashion houses Burberry and Giorgio Armani are the latest to take out space at the Sydney International Airport terminal.

The two brands join a host of others - including Fendi and Ralph Lauren - in committing to open up at the site following its planned $500 million expansion and redevelopment.

Emporio Armani will open up a flasgship store next November in the terminal's new shopping precinct, 'The Forum'. Arranged by the designer himself in association with the brand's inhouse architect team, it will follow the design concept of other Armani stores in Paris, London, Milan and Boston.

Stock will include men and women's formal and casualwear, sportswear, leather accessories, watches, eyewear and jewellery collections.

No date has yet been given for the opening of the Burberry store however it is understood the 150-year-old brand will sell its full range including men's and women's outerwear, ready-to-wear and accessories collections.

Retail Sydney Airport Corporation Limited general manager Derek Larsen claimed upon completion the terminal would be the most profitable retail asset per square metre in Australia.

Currently servicing more than 32 million domestic and international passengers annually, passenger numbers are expected to increase to 79 million per year by 2030.
