THOSE IN THE FASHION BUSINESS LOVE NOTHING MORE THAN A GOOD KNEES-UP AND A CHANCE TO GET OUT AND ABOUT. BELOW RAGTRADER DETAILS THE PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE.

Strike a pose
He refused to give audiences an example of the perfect runway strut, but designer Alex Perry was more than happy to judge that of Cassie Van Den Dungen and Tahnee Atkinson. The two Australia’s Next Top Model finalists were dressed in corsetted creations from the designer as they struck their last pose on the show’s finale, televised live. Perry is pictured here with stylist Jonathon Pease.

Forever New-er
Victoria’s Spice Market proved a fitting venue for the moody launch of retail chain Forever New’s spring/summer 2009/10 collection earlier this month. The opulent Middle Eastern-inspired venue saw more than 200 of Melbourne’s fashion elite ushered down a red carpet lit entirely by tiki torches before models wearing opulent prints, jewel tones in luxurious prints, and Greek and Roman mythology combined with mysterious oriental influences walked down the makeshift runway. Pictured are Tiffiny Hall and Pallavi Sharda (right) and Zan Cane with Rich Butler (above).

Hotel living
It’s not often veteran Peter Morrissey fades into the background but that’s exactly what happened when hotel chain Novotel Sydney put its own staff on the runway when launching its new Morrissey-designed uniforms recently. Both front-of-house and back-of-house staff shone as they enjoyed their 15 minutes of fame while Morrissey provided a running commentary. Pictured is Accor media relations manager Gaynor Reid with the designer himself.
