Designer sisters Pim, Kly and Matina Sukuhahuta were doin' it for themselves as well as others when they teamed up with fellow Thai export Singha beer to stage their new seasonal launch recently. The event, staged at celebrated waterfront property Icebergs, saw the sisters show their Sretsis label's autumn/winter collection 'School of Rebellious Sweethearts' together with the debut of a short film celebrating the brands' collaborations.

The hottest trends from the catwalks of Milan, Paris, London and New York were on show when Fashion Group International of Sydney staged its bi-annual breakfast briefing recently. Among those listening to how they would dress for the global economic convulsions were Liz Pearson of McKenzie Fashion and Vicki Sutherland from Vikki James Sleepwear.

Big Apple, big crunch

Even against a gloomy economic backdrop, Australian designers managed to crack a smile for cameras at the New York instalment of trade event G'Day USA. True blue fashion brands ranging from Konstantina Mittas and Susie Mooratoff to Be Seduced (under the Seduce retail group) and Metalicus showcased their wares at a specially branded designer fashion showroom late last month. Now in its third year, the Austrade event was staged at the Australian Consulate's Monash Room and drew buyers, media and industry delegates from across America.
