MELBOURNE: The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) will shine a spotlight on the Australian fashion and textile industries when it opens its latest exhibition.
'Australian Made: 100 Years of Fashion' will showcase pieces constructed by Australian fashion and textile workers between the 1850s and the 1950s.
NGV director Gerard Vaughan said the exhibition portrayed the development of Australian style.
“This exhibition presents new research into an area of fashion that is relatively under-documented,” Vaughan added.
'Australian Made' will feature garments from labels and retailers including Beril Jents, Buckley & Nunn, Le Louvre, La Petite, Atkinson & Sons, Hartnell of Melbourne, Ottery's, Ball & Welch and many more.
The exhibition will run from May 28, 2010 to 23 January, 2011.
