MELBOURNE: A bag of fruit and vegetables and poor time management has proved to be the undoing of Queensland costume designer Yopie Starfurik.
The 36-year-old Queensland costume maker has become the latest designer to be evicted from reality television show Project Runway Australia 2 after failing to impress in the latest round of judging.
In an episode that aired last night (August 19), contestants on the show were taken to Melbourne's Queen Victoria Markets where they were informed they had to create an outfit using solely food and packaging available from the venue.
Each was given $100 and just 10 hours in which to complete the task.
Judges including host Kristy Hinze, buyer Sarah Gale, designer Alex Zobatto-Bentley (filling in for panellist Jayson Brunsdon) and guest judge Bettina Liano, told Starfurik her workmanship was below standard.
"It didn't have any movement and wasn't a particularly great design," Liano noted.
Fellow contestant Ivana Stipicic, who was formerly evicted but won the chance to re-enter the competition in a previous episode, was announced as the task winner.
Gale said the elements of her garment, constructed almost entirely from cabbage, "worked really well together".
Five contestants now remain in the running to win the event - which offers the season two winner a car, a six-page spread in Madison magazine and a $100,000 cash injection to invest in showing their label at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week.
The contestants still vying for the prize include Stipicic, 25-year-old Anthony Capon, 40-year-old William Lazootin, Mark Neighbour, Lauren Vieyra.
