SYDNEY: Sportswear retailer Foot Locker has ramped up its public relations campaign as it prepares to launch its largest Australian store to date.

The new George Street site measured at 475.9sqm with 207.4sqm of selling space and a dedicated basketball concept area.

An official store launch was scheduled for May 21 and would feature celebrities across sport, music and television along with cult hip-hop DJ Katalyst.

The retailer would also offer a pair of limited edition Nike Air Force One trainers during a special draw on the same day. Manufactured from anaconda skin, the hand-stitched trainers featured leather lining and 18 carat gold shoe lace anglets. Less than 10 pairs were available in the Australian market with the shoes valued at around $3000.

An additional 30 trainers from brands Puma and Vans would also be offered to consumers on the day.

The official launch would kick off with a performance from a B-boy dance crew from 4pm and conclude with a VIP party from 6.30pm.

Foot Locker operated 79 stores across Australia and 14 in New Zealand with apparel, footwear and accessory collections across brands such as Nike, adidas, Converse, K-Swiss and Puma.
