SYDNEY: Fashion Group International (FGI) has launched an urgent appeal to clothing, footwear and logistics firms for donations to the victims of Victoria's bushfires.

The non-profit fashion organisation is in the early stages of launching a Fashion Clothes Appeal, aimed at companies which can provide underwear, socks, apparel and shoes to fire victims.

Representatives have also approached logistics companies in a bid to organise drop-off points and transportation for donated goods.

FGI board of directors representative Michelle Farrar said the aim was to provide clothing to victims in the short-term future.

"The [Salvation Army] has done such a great job in helping out victims over the last few days - our hope is to provide underwear, socks, footwear, clothing and beauty products once victims have relocated from shelters in a few weeks time."
