SYDNEY: Fashion Exposed attendees enjoyed a Pacific Brands sponsored seminar this morning - a day after the manufacturer was all but forced to pull its LMFF sponsorship program.
Pacific Brands has withdrawn two major showcases and a Berlei branded bus from the LMFF (L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival) schedule, which will take place from March 15 to 22. While it will still hand over $100,000 in sponsorship and supply uniforms to volunteers at the event, its three withdrawals were prompted by public outrage over its decision to shut down its local manufacturing operations.
The withdrawal was expected to deter planned protests by textile, clothing and footwear unionists at LMFF. No such protests took place this morning at Fashion Exposed as Pacific Brands presented its first round of industry retail seminars.
A company representative was on hand to welcome Fashionista Business Consultancy Group founder and Project Runway judge Sarah Gale, who offered a presentation on boosting sales during tough trading conditions.
In addition to being a key sponsor of the trade fair, Pacific Brands has a dedicated stand offering labels such as Bonds, Berlei, Holeproof, Jockey, Kayser , Kolotex and Boydex.
