SYDNEY: Fashion Palette will add runway shows to the two day industry conference to be held at Circular Quay from October 8 to 10.

The new initiative will give 30 emerging designers the opportunity to showcase their work in front of industry heavyweights and buyers. The parades will run on a 30 metre catwalk at the Overseas Passenger Terminal on October 9, to an audience of up to 800 people.

Those present will witness Australian fashion, swimwear, lingerie, accessory and footwear designs. Labels on show include young designers such as In The Beginning, The Last Romantic, Tovah, Madeline Tait, First Born and Sanna Shoes.

Samantha Wills, Wayne Cooper, Marie Richie from Hussy and Nikita Sernack from Nookie are just some of the speakers that will be presenting in a series of one hour talks over the weekend, with topics aimed at educating those wanting to break into the fashion industry.

Sonya Mefaddi, originally of a graphic design background, launched the first Fashion Palette event in 2009, with Peter Morrissey and Jessie Hill as speakers. The premise is to build the bridge between leading and emerging fashion designers.
