Fashion leaders get into festive spirit
Jane Shepherdson - brand director for UK mega-chain Topshop - will be in town and on stage for the annual L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival business seminar in March. In what has been described as "the best line-up of presenters yet", the seminar will also host British designer Jasper Conran, CEO of Liz Claiborne Paul Charron, LVMH confidante Jean Jacques Festival director Karen Webster said the decision to involve high-profile presenters this year was prompted by months of industry research and consultation.
"It's always been our intention to have the seminars at this level and we used all of our resources and contacts to get it here. Based on our analysis, we've covered every element of the supply chain and addressed the dramatic market shifts taking place within the industry."
The seminar, facilitated by leading UK fashion journalist Marion Hume, will cover a broad spectrum of issues including visual merchandising, wholesale consolidation, retail business strategies and the future of the European luxurywear market.
Webster said audiences could expect Shepherdson to reveal her "secrets" for retail success and the key to effectively tapping into mass market trends.
"She has a magic formula in place that allows her to read the market before anyone else does. Jane has a great story to tell because other businesses have tried to mirror her success but she's always one step ahead."
