SYDNEY: High-end womenswear label Scanlan & Theodore has confirmed the high seas played a small part in its decision to pull from the Rosemount Australian Fashion Week (RAFW) schedule.
Industry sources alleged the brand's last-minute exit was a result of shipping delays, not financial or budgeting constraints.
Scanlan & Theodore representative Emma van Haandel confirmed a delay in fabric imports from Italy was partly behind the decision.
"Scanlan & Theodore hoped to do a show this year but it just wasn't possible for many reasons - fabric delay being [one of them]."
Haandel declined to comment on other factors behind the brand's decision. However it was understood the brand was focused on maintaining its retail and concession store operations, not broach into the wholesale sector as many other labels at RAFW.
RAFW spring/summer 2009/10 will run from April 27 to May 1 in Sydney's Circular Quay district.
