The brains behind bespoke footwear etailer Shoes of Prey are preparing to take on the fashion eyewear market.

Husband and wife duo Jodie and Michael Fox, and Mike Knapp, created the award-winning online offer in 2009. The trio have now teamed with ex-Google Asia Pacific executive Mark Capps to launch Sneaking Duck on November 16.

The site allows customers to enter their eye prescription details and then choose from a wide variety of frame styles and colours. Prices will be competitive, with frames sourced from China and lenses fitted in Australia.

“The idea for Sneaking Duck actually came about at the same time as Shoes of Prey,” Jodie said. “We’d decided to dedicate ourselves to Shoes of Prey first and then when we had the right infrastructure and resources, we’d also launch this label.”

Glasses will be priced at $180 for the first pair, with subsequent pairs costing $90 each. The company also offers to collect prescriptions from optometrists. The website will also allow customers to superimpose their chosen glasses onto an uploaded photo of themselves, overcoming a key barrier to purchasing glasses online.
