BRISBANE: Subfusco, George Wu and Francis Leon are among the labels set to take advantage of a seminar bringing together US-focussed export experts.

Queensland University of Technology's (QUT) business development partner, Creative Enterprise Australia, is hosting a fashion business video conference on July 14 canvassing how labels from the sunshine state can break into the US market.

The two-hour long conference will feature presentations and question and answer time with a panel of seven fashion export experts.

Speakers will include Ilse Metchek from the California Fashion Association, US-based agent Lisa Stewart and Trade & Investment Queensland's Los Angeles-based advisor Tina Radburn.

Topics to be covered include leading fashion events in the US calendar, different market entry options, shipping and import procedure, and US sales representation.

QUT Creative Enterprise Australia fashion business advisor Kay McMahon said a number of Brisbane-based labels had already committed to attend the video conference, including George Wu, Tom Gunn, Francis Leon, Subfusco, Pendragon Shoes and Jane Peacock.

Up to 20 labels can participate in the event which is supported by Trade Queensland. It will be hosted at QUT's Creative Industries Precinct and will cost attendees $45.
