SYDNEY: Creative evening gowns will take centre stage at the annual Sydney Institute Fashion Design Studio’s eveningwear parade next month.

Stage three student’s from the Ultimo based school will present their designs to a judging panel and approximately 300 spectators on a catwalk set up in the Strand Arcade. Judges include established designers Akira Isogawa, Nicola Finetti and Camilla Freeman-Topper from Camilla and Marc. Grazia magazine Fashion Features Director Glynis Traill-Nash will also participate. The winner will receive a cash prize.

Techniques used by the students include hand-woven lace embroidery with latticed horse hair, origami inspired styles, dip-dyed fringing and laser cutting.

Last year’s winner, Soeli Pedrozo’s designs were picked up by renowned buyer Belinda Seper to appear in the The Corner Shop.

The event will take place on September 16 at 7.30pm.
