SYDNEY: Luxury retailer Louis Vuitton has been hit by armed robbers for the second time in as many years.

Two men armed with a handgun and a sledgehammer raided the brand's CBD site yesterday at 12.30am and made off with an undisclosed number of luxury handbags, police stated.

It is understood staff who were working at the store were forced to the ground as thieves ransacked the store, located on the corner of Sydney's Castlereagh and King Street. No one was injured in the robbery.

The latest raid is expected to raise serious security reviews for Louis Vuitton, following a similar incident in March when four men armed with sledgehammers smashed a hole through the boutique's window and looted the store.

Designer brands have suffered a spate of robberies in recent months with reports Bettina Liano's flagship site in Melbourne was also raided late last month. A representative for the company said thieves made off with the Lonsdale Street store's entire denim collection.
