SYDNEY: High end eco fashion and lifestyle textile producer Bird has made a bid to further its sustainability.
Bird has joined forces with an Indian mill to source organic cotton for its latest range, enabling the company to ensure that 80 per cent of the collection is printed on SKAL CUC certified organic fabric.
Founder Rachel Bending said this season was the first in which brand had accrued the buying power to have fabrics made to its specifications.
The venture was part of the brand's long term strategy to become 100 per cent organic and climate neutral, as well as using 100 per cent renewable energy, she added.
The Bird brand comprises a range of luxury eco products including clothing, accessories and homewares. Each season revolves around three new fabrics, designed at the brand's studio in Byron Bay and hand printed using water-based dyes and solar power.
