Ragtrader regularly looks at new and innovative concept spaces in Australia. In this edition, Erin O’Loughlin takes a PEEk at the latest boutique developed by the team behind luxury retail brand Becker Minty.

The brains behind Sydney-centred retail brand Becker Minty have taken the plunge and opened their third store in as many years.

The new site is nestled in Queen’s Court, Woollahra, in Sydney’s east and was designed by Becker Minty co-founder and creative director, Christopher Becker. While the brand’s first store was created as a ‘lifestyle emporium’ and its second site, Becker Minty Woman, a home for luxury Australian womenswear, the new Woollahra store offers a carefully curated blend of luxury homewares and personal accessories.

The products on offer span a vast range of price points, from an Aurelio Costarella belt for $145 to a $3000 handbag from Italian brand Rodo. The store is the exclusive stockist of Venezia Jewels necklaces by artisan jeweller Barbara Rabito and other labels found on its shelves include Danish brand Day Birger et Mikkelsen, local label Jac + Jack, luxury Italian sportswear brand Etiqueta Negra and Brazil-based label Osklen.

“We have a gallery-style approach to the layout of the stores,” Becker says. “We regard all our carefully selected products as works of art, respecting the passion and craftsmanship with which they were made.

“The Woollahra store design follows the brand identity established at our flagship homewares store in Potts Point, with adjustments made for the constraints of a much smaller floorspace.”

Glass cabinets are used throughout the 40sqm store to display the expansive range of accessories.

“Creating an environment where items are beautifully displayed and accessible, whilst minimising shrinkage, is a challenge for all retailers,” Becker concedes. Yet the team are old hands at managing such problems and the addition of a third store clearly brings much joy to them all, including CEO James Vaile.

“We’re confident the Becker Minty ethos of ‘the best of everything’ will complement the existing businesses in the village,” Vaile says. “We’re so excited to be joining this vibrant and discerning neighbourhood and look forward to introducing them to the Becker Minty experience.”
