DOOR OPENS
SYDNEY: Marcs, Jan Logan, Mollini, Midas, LifewithBird, Alpha 60 and Gorman are among 40 fashion brands to enlist in a new website hosting online brand showrooms. Officially launched at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, Door 121 allows buyers and media to view material from selected brands such as press releases, lookbooks, biographies, videos and details such as pricing, sizing and stockist lists. The service aims to minimise administrative duties and costs, with users able to request further information and images from designers through a live platform. Door 121 is an Australian-owned company headed up by public relations guru Elena Antoniou. The service costs $300 per month for brand showrooms, while the industry directory is $120 per month.

PERRY NICE
SYDNEY: Alex Perry’s designs were voted number one at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week by readers of online news service news.com.au. More than 23,000 people voted, with the majority choosing Perry’s ‘Lauren’ dress, retailing at $999, as the winner. The short, sequined cocktail dress was put up against 80 outfits chosen from 37 of Australia’s top designers at the event. Other designers featured in the contest were Rachel Gilbert, Aurelio Costarella and Karla Spetic.

SIXTH STORE FOR YELTUOR
HOBART: Tasmanian womenswear retailer Yeltuor has opened an online store, bolstering its portfolio of five bricks-and-mortar sites. “We decided to launch the online site as we have many interstate customers who regularly shop in our stores while visiting Tasmania,” Yeltuor’s managing director, Mathew Routley, said. Features of the site include ‘Yeltuor Stylist’ which shows consumers the latest trends and how to wear them and Yeltuor First, the retailer’s own online loyalty club. Brands available include Cooper St, Grab Denim, Lisa Ho, pinkstitch and Ted Baker.

BIG MOVE FOR BIG W
NATIONAL: Discount retailer Big W has officially launched its online store. The department store’s transactional site, www.bigw.com.au, went live on May 10. While fashion goods are not currently for sale on the site, other items available for purchase include books, beauty, homewares and travel goods. Fashion could be on the cards later this year.
