NZ online boom
AUCKLAND: Around 27 per cent of the adult population in New Zealand has purchased clothing, including shoes and accessories, via online stores in the last 12 months. The results from the Nielsen New Zealand Online Retail Report 2010 also show that the clothing category makes up three per cent of all online spend in the country. The average spend in the online clothing category over the last three months was NZ$230.

SYDNEY: Iconic Australian womenswear label Simona has boarded the social media bandwagon. The brand has set up a dedicated Facebook page and Twitter feed, uploading the latest seasonal look books, editorial photo shoots, print media coverage and archived campaign images. The platforms also promote sales across Simona’s stand-alone stores and David Jones concessions, as well as ‘celebrity style’ looks from its current collections. The brand’s Facebook and Twitter pages can be located by searching under ‘Simona Australia’ in both platforms.

Value shopping
NATIONAL: Discount department stores continue to dominate fashion-related shopping searches in Australia, despite a majority of these not having an online shopping function. According to the latest data from online traffic monitor Hitwise, ‘Target’ and ‘Kmart’ were among search terms to clock in the largest increase for the week ending October 2, compared to September 25. Target recorded the third highest increase for searches during the week, while Kmart came in at number nine.
