FASHION TO AID
NATIONAL: A jacket by Australian design label Willow received the highest bid in the Fashion to Aid eBay auction, bringing in $936.68. The online initiative, which raised over $50,000 for the Queensland Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal, was devised by fashion event producer Lara Karamia. Items from leading Australian designers were auctioned online for the charity. The total number of bids came in at 5546 and the top 10 pieces came from Willow, Manik Mercian, Rachel Gilbert, Alex Perry, Sass & Bide, Camilla and Marc and Cerrone.
NEW FACE FOR SOCIETY
SYDNEY: Australian streetwear brand The Cassette Society has expanded into the social networking world with the launch of a Facebook page dedicated to the label. The site will feature regular news updates, inspirations and office antics as well as sales, giveaways and new collection sneak peeks. The Bondi-based label, created by designers Tania Rickards and Lauren Risti, is currently stocked at 30 General Pants Co stores in Australia and has over 100 stockists combined around the globe. The brand also recently added international online shopping destination Shopbop.com to its stable of stockists.
SPORTSGIRL E-LAUNCH
MELBOURNE: Sportsgirl will release its collaborative designer range with Richard Nicoll online ahead of an in-store drop. The collection will be available exclusively on its website for one week, with pieces buyable from March 21 and appearing in-store on March 28. For the first time, Sportsgirl will also feature an online “Wish List” on its website, where interested parties will be able to select the items they want to purchase before the collection's debut. The “Wish List” will be live from March 7 and subscribers will be sent an email as soon as the collection is live to shop online.
VIRTUAL ELEPHANT
SYDNEY: Vanishing Elephant will launch an online store on March 1. The menswear label is currently stocked in 24 boutiques across Australia and at General Pants Co. The Vanishing Elephant online shop will be incorporated into the brand’s existing website and will feature a selection of the label's classic pieces available all year round as well as a more select capsule of seasonal pieces.
