MELBOURNE: A new fashion event looks set to make the best of the downturn while broadening designers' exposure.

LiveStyle – to launch April 17 to 19 – will take place at Central Pier, Docklands, featuring a designer sale, runway shows, fashion and beauty workshops, VIP bars and music and entertainment.

The event will showcase over 50 pop up stores selling sale stock and new season collections direct to the public.

Confirmed local and international participating brands include Bettina Liano, Phillips, G-Star, Diesel, Roy, Hudson, Taverniti, Dizingof, State of Georgia, Shakuhachi and Bloom. High-end fashion retailers also featured in the schedule include Cyberia, Della Spiega and Cactus Jam.

Supported by a collective of fashion retailers and wholesalers - headed up by Daniel Bottari from iconic Melbourne boutique, Cyberia - the event is partnered by leading music events organiser Future Entertainment.

Event creator Bottari described the response to the event from designers and retailers as "overwhelming".

"The economic downturn has meant many stores have surplus stock from last season, which means there are lots of great buys for those attending."

Co-creator Shmuel Tal added LiveStyle was designed "to put the excitement and enjoyment back into the experience of shopping, by combining what people love most: fashion, music and great bargains."

A number of different ticket or package options are available to attendees, starting at $20 (plus booking fee) for general admission and ranging up to a $125 VIP experience including runway show, valet parking, a food and beverage package and a personal stylist.

Predicted attendance is estimated at 10,000, with a core audience of females from 16 to 35.
