SYDNEY: Akira Isogawa has put to rest suggestions he is planning a shake-up of his department store accounts.
The womenswear designer issued a statement confirming his ongoing relationship with long time stockist David Jones. The statement comes in the wake of Isogawa's attendance at rival department store Myer's spring/summer launch on August 5.
“I
attended a Myer function and didn't realise the implications of my
attendance until I arrived,” Isogawa said.
“I
am very committed to my relationship with David Jones and apologise
for any confusion my decision to attend the Myer function may have
caused. We enjoy a successful exclusive partnership with David Jones
and they have been incredibly supportive over the past 10 years.”
Akira is among a collection of Australian labels that have a long history with David Jones, including Collette Dinnigan, Sass & Bide and Alannah Hill.
