NATIONAL: Department stores Myer and David Jones are the latest fashion players to throw their support behind victims of Victoria's bushfires.

As reported on Ragtrader Online yesterday, non-profit organisation Fashion Group International has launched a clothing and footwear appeal to retailers and wholesalers across Australia.

Myer has announced its own appeal program, with the aim of raising $1 million for charity organisation The Salvation Army. The department store has vowed to match total customer contributions dollar-for-dollar for up to $500,000. Donations to The Myer Bushfire Appeal opened across Victorian stores yesterday morning.

David Jones has pledged $500,000 worth of its gift cards to the Australian Red Cross and says it will also donate its profits for Thursday, February 12 to the organisation's bushfire program.
