MELBOURNE: Country Road's group general manager of retail operations, Glenn Gilzean, is set to follow the path trodden by the company's former CEO, Ian Moir.

Gilzean has resigned from Country Road to take up a post with the Australian fashion retailer's majority owner, Woolworths Holdings Limited, in South Africa.

Gilzean's resignation will take effect from 29 September 2010. He will join Woolworths Holdings as group director of retail operations from October 1.

Country Road chairman Simon Susman thanked Gilzean for his service to the men's, women's and kidswear fashion business.

“Glenn Gilzean's appointment to Woolworths reflects his contribution to Country Road's turnaround in the past few years,” Susman said.

Gilzean's appointment to the South African company follows Ian Moir's move in 2009 from the role of Country Road CEO to managing director of retail and CEO elect of Woolworths Holdings. Gilzean was Country Road's acting CEO following Moir's 2009 departure.

Country Road is yet to announce a replacement for Gilzean.
