Dinnigan reveals maternal side
Estella Dinnigan is already making a mark on her mother's multinational business. Inspired by her two-year old daughter, the Australian designer has launched a new line of childrenswear simply titled, Collette Dinnigan Enfant. Currently available in boutiques and select stores nationally and internationally, the range is aimed at women in search of easy-to-care for and high quality garments for children.
"Venturing into childrenswear has been a really enjoyable process for me," Dinnigan said. "It felt natural as I have a younger daughter and I wanted to create pretty, bohemian clothing for her and since I already had the design and production infrastructure in place, it made it easier."
Featuring dresses, cardigans, tops, pants and booties, the latest collection is made from embroidered cotton voile and lace, washable silk, silk and cashmere knit blends and a "new season print" of cherries. With sizes ranging from newborn to four years, the line of dresses is priced from $76.95 to $119.95. Although the collection features intricate fabrics and embellishments, Dinnigan said it aims to be versatile, wearable and child friendly.
Confident that it will perform well in both the domestic and international market, the designer is already looking to expand the line. When asked what her long term plans for Collette Dinnigan Enfant were, she responded: "To widen distribution and increase product categories as well as to make available a greater size range and to never compromise on quality."
This is the third diffusion line for Dinnigan who also produces bridal dresses and eyewear to compliment her seasonal collections.
