MELBOURNE: Shoppers with a taste for the finer things - and cash to spare - look set to find contentment at Melbourne's newest top notch retail destination.

Located at Harbour Town Shopping Centre, Docklands, Designers House' is an architect-designed retail space – complete with polished hardwood floors, black mirrored retail counters, antique-style mirrors and crystal chandelier lighting – promising shoppers "a bygone era of refined elegance and attentive personalised service".

A collaboration between Australian and international fashion labels including Tim O'Connor, Jets, Christensen Copenhagen, Little Joe, Marc Cain, Kenzo, Covers and Modern Lovers, the new retail concept will house a collection of individually run fashion stores.

Retail business manager Paula McHutchison said shopping at Designers House was intended to be an exclusive, "special" experience.

"Attentive customer service is sadly becoming a rarity, however our customers will enjoy exceptional old fashioned service focused on attending to their every whim," she said.

"What sets Designers House apart is the thoughtful consideration that has been paid to the total shopping experience - the luxury labels, attentive customer service and stunning surrounds all combine to provide our customers with superior quality and a highly memorable retail experience."

Sydney designer Tim O'Connor confirmed he had picked the centre as the site for his first Melbourne store.

"I had been looking for the perfect location for my first Melbourne store for some time, and the idea of basing myself at Docklands, a unique new shopping destination so close to the CBD, was a temptation I couldn't resist."

"The layout and design of the store was another key factor in my decision to launch in Designers House, the whole store is very glamorous and in keeping with the strong and feminine Tim O'Connor look," he said.
