BRISBANE: Designers with artistic flair have the chance to win cash at the 2010 Textile Art Festival.
Called Art u Wear, a competition is now open to create a 'wearable art' costume related to an Alice in Wonderland theme.
Thirty finalists will be selected to show at the festival, with an expert panel of judges on hand to pick the winners.
First prize is $3000, runner up $1500 and third prize $500. Entrants under 18 years of age will be judged in a junior category, with first prize a $1300 Berina sewing machine.
A select number of entries will also be chosen for a display at the Melbourne Craft and Quilt Fair, to be held at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre in July next year.
Pieces will be judged on the basis of creativity, interpretation, design and workmanship.
The Textile Art Festival will be held in Brisbane from June 25 to 27 at the Brisbane Exhibition Centre, South Bank.
Entries for the competition close on April 15, 2010.
