Australian designer brand Ksubi is boosting its Melbourne presence with the launch of a second store on Chapel Street this month, ahead of new category launches and designer collaborations.

The latest addition to the Ksubi retail stable, set to open doors on September 15, will see the brand's store network bumped up to six boutiques nationally, including its first Melbourne flagship on Lonsdale Street which launched in June this year.

Ksubi global brand director Paul Wilson said the Chapel Street Ksubi store, which is currently being designed, will feature the latest spring/summer 2011 collection, as well as the high summer 2011/ 2012, and Ksubi footwear and sunglasses.

The store will also carry the Ksubi autumn/winter 2012 collection, titled “War”, once stock drops in February, with Wilson adding that this range also marks a subtle change in design direction for the brand overall.

“[“War”] is not a complete change the new collection, as it is still very Ksubi – very subversive and has a sense of humour about it – but it is a new, very constructed modern look that we are calling ‘luxury street',” Wilson said.

“We have been selling in the contemporary departments of boutiques and department stores for the last 10 years, and with this latest range we have put equal focus on our fashion to our denim.”

Wilson also hinted at plans in motion to expand the Ksubi reach further, via retail roll-out and/or overseas expansion and has confirmed that the label is poised to launch new categories and design collaborations.

“Yes, we are expanding, but I can't say when or where yet. Retail is very opportunistic,” he said. “And we do have both new category launches, designer collaborations coming very soon.”
