NATIONAL: Department store David Jones has released a clipped statement regarding a $37 million lawsuit against the company and its former chief executive Mark McInnes.
Junior publicist Kristy Fraser-Kirk is suing both parties over alleged harassment at the hand of McInnes, lodging a landmark claim with the Federal Court today seeking 5 per cent of company profits and 5 per cent of McInnes's salary while he worked for the company.
David Jones confirmed the legal proceedings in a formal statement today.
"Both the company and its directors will defend the claims vigorously," it added. "On 18 June 2010, the company announced the mutual termination of Mr McInnes, the company’s previous chief executive officer. In view of the Court proceedings, it is inappropriate for the company to make any further comment on this matter."
