SYDNEY: David Jones has locked in a department store exclusive deal with an international fashion design house.
It has signed an agreement with Giorgio Armani S.p.A., to be the only Australian department store to stock Armani Collezioni, Armani Jeans and Armani leathergoods and soft accessories.
Over the next two years, David Jones plans to open 16 additional Armani Jeans areas, of which there are currently six. It also plans to launch 14 new Emporio Armani accessories and shoe locations, as well as four additional Armani Collezioni areas to add to the current 13.
Giorgio Armani S.p.A deputy chairman John Hooks said the two companies had worked together for ten years but wanted a more exclusive arrangement.
"Armani is all about long term relationships with our customers and also with retailers and the deeper those relationships go, the more opportunity there is to develop and expand our business,” he said.
