MELBOURNE: Country Road has handed over the window of its flagship South Yarra store to the next generation of fashion visual merchandisers.
From today (September 16), the window of the high street retailer will feature displays created by visual merchandising students from RMIT university. Incorporating Country Road womenswear, menswear, kidswear, homewares and accessories, the installation will remain on show for three weeks.
Visual merchandising teacher Justin Compton said the collaboration, now in its fourth year, provided students the opportunity to engage with industry.
“The students are not only given the chance to use the skills they have learned in the program and apply them to a real project, they get to work with one of Australia’s leading lifestyle brands and key people in the industry,” Compton said.
Students Sarah Johnston and Claire Mounsher were among those who affirmed the importance of the program to their studies.
“I worked on the project from start to finish and experienced first-hand the challenges involved in budget, concept creation and logistics,” Johnson said.
