NATIONAL: Country Road has paired up with Australian Red Cross for an initiative that aims to marry fashion with social awareness.
The high street retailer has unveiled 'Fashion Trade', a clothing donation program that aims to raise money to fund the work of Red Cross as well as reduce landfill.
Consumers who donate 'pre-loved' Country Road apparel or accessories to participating Red Cross stores will receive a $10 voucher to put towards their next purchase of $50 or more at Country Road stores.
It is hoped the initiative, with its emphasis on used clothing fit for resale, will reduce the amount of apparel Red Cross sends to landfill each year.
Country Road creative director Sophie Holt said Fashion Trade was an important new partnership for the company.
"By encouraging customers to recylce their pre-loved Country Road clothing and accessories with a cash incentive, Red Cross will be able to raise much needed funds for the communities in which we live," Holt said.
Country Road retails men's, women's and childrenswear across 64 stores nationally. Red Cross currently operates 162 stores across the country.
