MELBOURNE: Arthur Galan's recently clinched deal to design the corporate wardrobe for Westfield Doncaster shopping centre may prove just the ticket in a down turn.

Galan - who was approached to design the uniforms by Westfield management with an eye to his reputation for tailoring - described the contract as a welcome addition to his established corporate business.

"The contract is a great brand association, we are flattered that a brand such as Westfield with global presence approached us to design their corporate uniforms," he said.

With a host of corporate clients already on his books - including businesses such as Pearl Restaurant, Gingerboy and Ezards, The Press Club, San Pellegrino and Acqua Panna - Galan confirmed the company was also in discussions with a leading local five star hotel to design and manufacture its uniforms.

Westfield Doncaster centre manager Rachele Godridge said Galan's input was intended to underpin the Doncaster centre's high fashion profile.

"We chose Arthur Galan to design the uniforms because the label's sleek style and premium quality mirror the look and feel of Westfield Doncaster. Arthur grew up in the Doncaster area and his stylish clothing has a distinctly Melbourne look."

Galan designed the Westfield Butler and Westfield Valet Parking uniforms in addition to wardrobes for the executive team. The valet uniform included a short-sleeved shirt with rolled up cuffs, a moulded cap and Converse sneakers while the butler wardrobe was designed to create "a polished chic look".

"It was important that the customer be treated like a guest, not just a shopper, and the sleek tailored suiting reflects this five star service and formality."

Arthur Galan AG is also set to open a men's and women's store in the new centre in the coming months. The new openings would bring Galan's small retail empire to eight stores in Melbourne and three stores in Sydney, including one women's and one women's site in Westfield Bondi Junction.
