MELBOURNE: Accessories wholesaler Coquette Red has implemented a raft of product changes following demand from retailers for lower priced collections.
The changes have been rolled out across Coquette Red's summer 2010/11 range, and include an average 20 per cent drop in the price of its handbags. The label has also expanded its product line to include both synthetic and leather wallets and belts for the first time.
Coquette Red founder and designer Marita Hayes-Brown said the changes were triggered by client feedback and a desire to build sales growth.
“Our customers tell us they appreciate the higher quality and design detailing of our handbags, but they are increasingly looking for stock that sells through quickly, particularly in times of economic uncertainty,” Hayes-Brown said.
“So we collaborated with our suppliers in reworking the range and found ways to meet the RRPs our clients were seeking, without compromising our designer level quality.”
Average prices for the label's synthetic handbags now fall between $89 and $99, while most of Coquette Red's leather handbags retail for under $249. The eight new belt designs are priced to retail at $49, its synthetic wallets at $69, and its leather wallets from $119.
Established in 2002, Coquette Red also wholesales a sterling silver jewellery collection. The label currently has around 150 stockists across Australia and New Zealand.
