NEW ZEALAND: Aucklander Trelise Cooper is set to rival Leona Edmiston as the Australasian designer with the most diverse portfolio after announcing she intends releasing an interiors collection.
Cooper, who like Edmiston already boasts womenswear, childrenswear, hosiery and eyewear among her product mix, has teamed with Australasian textile, garment and homeware house Charles Parsons to release the new collection. Cooper, whose husband Jack was the founder of fabric wholesale group Cooper Watkinson Textiles, frequently uses her own fabrics in her collections.
The range, dubbed Trelise Cooper Interiors, will feature pieces such as drapery and upholstery coverings. It will be available in stores from January.
The move coincides with the launch of Cooper's latest design for high street retailer Glassons where a t-shirt designed by Cooper sit alongside other Kiwi designers including Karen Walker and Kate Sylvester with money raised from the sale of the garments helping to raise funds to find a cure for cancer.
