Citywalk at Coomera plans unveiled

National property group Macquarie Leisure Trust has lodged an application with the Gold Coast City Council to develop a $200 million shopping centre next to Dreamworld theme park.

Planned for development by 2008, the Citywalk at Coomera complex will cover more than 39,000sqm and include two supermarkets, a discount department store and 100 speciality retailers. Additional stages will also see the development of a themed high street entertainment and leisure precinct, including a cinema, restaurants and commercial and residential areas.

"This development will represent the first entertainment destination in Australia that delivers a unique blend of theme park fun and world class shopping adventure fully integrated into a themed retail environment," said CEO of Macquarie Leisure Trust Greg Shaw.

A number of major retailers, including Coles Myer, have reportedly shown interest in the site.
