Sydney-based accessories designer Christy Leighton is making waves in the US fashion industry as she gears up to launch her spring /summer 2011 collection as part of the Jewellery Exhibition at New York Fashion Week this Thursday.

The US spring/summer 'Impossible Princess' collection, the ninth released by Leighton, is glamour-centric and draws inspiration from Leighton's travels across the globe, bringing an international vibe to the pieces.

“Spending so much time abroad this year as the label continues its International growth has greatly influenced this new collection,” Leighton said.

“From vintage shopping in New York, the 'glam' life in Los Angeles and the hectic pace of Hong Kong – each place really influenced parts of this collection – the pieces are almost diary entries in my travels abroad this year.”

Key colours for the collection include vibrant tropical shades such as turquoise, coral, yellow, browns and creams, as well as white and black mixed with the customary Chrissy L diamond-style bling.

Chrissy L has blossomed since its launch in the US market in February last year, and is now stocked in over 130 stockists across Australia and in Nordstroms, Niemen Marcus and Fred Segal Rocks in America, as well as a private label for Bebe.

The recent Chrissy L 'Glamrock’ autumn/winter 2011 campaign, shot on home soil in Sydney at Rose Bay and based on a 'boho princess' look, has also seen success in North America with the label showing up on the red carpet, worn by stars such as Tina Fey, Shontelle, Melanie Brown, Jennifer Lopez, Amber Lancaster, Rihanna and Eva Longoria.

The label featured in a recent issue US Cosmopolitan with Golden Globe Nominee Mila Kunis wearing a Chrissy L Highroller Cuff on the cover and Leighton was also invited Official 2011 Golden Globes Nivea Gifting Suite held at the home of Hollywood Jeweller Pascal Mouwad.

Chrissy L will launch the 'Glamrock' AW 11 collection in Australia next month, with plans to expand into Europe and Asia via department stores later in the year.
